FAQs

Do I need to book?

Yes. Pre-booking is essential as we have limited spaces. Booking early ensures you have the spaces you require. You can book via email or phone. We will then take your details and email you a booking form. This must be completed prior to your activity, without out your activity cannot go ahead.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring with you something comfortable to wear under your wetsuit. This could be a swimsuit, bikini or swimming shorts & a rash vest. Skintight items are more comfortable – avoid wearing anything bulky. You will also need an old pair of trainers, sun protection, a hat, water and clothes to change into after your session. We have had people arrive in their own wetsuits who have had to travel home in the same wetsuits after their sessions. DON’T FORGET YOUR CLOTHES.

Will it be cold?

During the beginning and towards the end of the season the water temperature can be quite cold. To ensure you remain comfortable and warm we provide wetsuits, boots and gloves of an appropriate thickness for the conditions on the day.

How long do lessons last?

Our intro sessions last 1 hour and the guided trips are 2 hours. We always ask you to arrive 15 minutes early to kit up to maximise your time on the water. You can hire anywhere from 1 – 6 hours.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer to have lessons?

Everyone will be given a PFD (personal flotation device prior to their session) We do ask that each participant be able to swim at least 25m un-assisted. Our beginner lessons are run within the marina within reach of the jetty and carefully managed by expert instructors. For our guided sea experiences, we do require a swimming ability of 50m. All individuals under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

How fit do I need to be to SUP or Kayak?

We all come in different shapes & sizes. Levels of fitness vary from one person to another. We always strive to make our sessions available to as many people as possible therefore we tailor your session to your ability and you choose the pace, always.

What age can you learn to kayak or paddle board?

Our minimum age for learning is 11. Due to licensing and the location in which our sessions take place all individuals under the age of 18+ must be accompanied by an adult on the water. Children must be able to carry their own board. We do offer bespoke activities for those not able to meet the minimum requirements – please contact us directly before booking.

Do I need my own equipment for my lessons?

Everything you need is included in the cost price. Just arrive with the things you need as outlined above under “What do I need to bring with me”.

How many paddle board lessons will I need?

We all learn at different paces, and this varies from individual to individual. You might find you’re quite happy after 1 lesson or you might find you need 2-3 or even more. We do encourage you to take further lessons as this provides you with the opportunity to refine your techniques such as paddle strokes & water safety.

Where are we located?

We operate within Aberystwyth Marina for all our activities. We can be a little tricky to find so please take a look at how to find us.

What facilities are available?

There is a toilet for our customers to use in our shared office. We recommend that you bring everything you need and visit a toilet before arriving. In most cases, people will change outside the office. Imagine you’re on the beach. Your belongings can be locked in our office or inside our equipment cage. If it’s raining whilst you’re getting changed, then we have a gazebo for you to change under.
